Many of our Marietta patients who choose to enhance their physique with breast implants lead an active lifestyle. It’s only natural to want to return to your regular routine as soon as possible, but you should remember to give yourself time to heal after breast surgery. Follow your post-operative care instructions and talk with Dr. Mark Crispin about when to resume your normal activities.
In general, you should avoid strenuous activities for the first month of your recovery. This doesn’t mean that you can’t exercise. It just means that you should take it easy and listen to your body. During the first week, you should be able to start exercising with short, slow walks and build from there.
If you are a swimmer, do not swim for the first month and talk to Dr. Crispin to be clear about when he recommends that you start swimming again. The over-the-head strokes in swimming will put too much stress on your healing body at first, and the water saturation is not good for your sutures.
If you are a runner, you will definitely want to start slowly after the first month of your breast surgery recovery. Make sure that you buy a firm and supportive sports bra. It may take a few weeks to adjust to your new form, but you’ll be back to your usual paths before you know it.
