As summer comes to a close, we celebrate with one last fun-in-the-sun weekend for Labor Day. While we’re all out having fun with our friends and family, it’s important to remember that extended or unprotected sun exposure can cause serious damage to your skin. Taking precautions like wearing protective clothing and applying sunscreen regularly can literally be lifesaving in the long run. Take a look at some of our other tips on how to stay safe in the sun if you need any additional help!

If your time in the sun this summer has left you with any worrisome sun spots or discoloration, we offer a variety of laser skin treatments that can leave you refreshed and rejuvenated.

Our Laser Skin Resurfacing procedures can address common skin conditions such as wrinkles and lines, acne and wound scars, sun and age spots, discoloration and pigmentation. We offer two types of Laser Skin Resurfacing techniques to quickly and effectively remove these imperfections from nearly any part of your body and provide you with the clear, youthful, refreshed look you desire.

The Pearl™ Laser is a gentle but effective technology that removes imperfections while stimulating collagen growth. The production of collagen under your skin prompts the appearance of blemish free, youthful skin. This outpatient procedure generally takes 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the areas you are having treated and the extent of damage being removed. The Pearl™ laser is extremely gentle, which greatly reduces downtime. Most patients require no more than two days to resume normal activities without any discomfort at all. Results become fully apparent within four to seven days.

CO2 Laser Treatment is useful for eliminating fine lines, deep wrinkles, scars, liver spots, and many other skin problems. Unlike the Pearl™ laser, the CO2 laser can remove several layers of skin in one treatment. This can greatly enhance your results, but will also increase your recovery period. New skin growth can be expected within 7 to 14 days of your treatment. Although your skin will be red after this treatment, this new skin is greatly improved in appearance and texture. The redness following CO2 lasering can take 1 month to recede. During this time, some mild discomfort should be expected. Even with a longer recovery period, many patients prefer this method because it requires fewer treatments and produces more dramatic results.
