Ultrasonic liposuction (UAL) is one of the most effective types of liposuction available today. This state-of-the-art technique allows Marietta liposuction surgeon Dr. Mark Crispin to remove excess deposits of fat from areas of the body that do not traditionally respond to other forms of liposuction. In addition, because ultrasonic waves liquefy fat prior to removal, UAL allows for more complete fat removal from all treated areas.
Benefits of UAL
UAL can remove a larger amount of fat from hard to treat areas of the body. Additional benefits include:
- Reduced risk of blood loss
- Greater protection of surrounding tissue
- Encouragement of skin shrinkage
- Acceptable for secondary liposuction procedures
Some evidence suggests there may also be less bruising with UAL, but this is highly dependent on your body’s natural reaction to liposuction surgery.
How UAL Works
To perform your UAL procedure, experienced liposuction surgeon Dr. Crispin will first inject the treatment area with a special fluid that helps break up fat deposits while also shrinking blood vessels. This helps encourage fat removal while minimizing certain liposuction risks.
Once you are ready, Dr. Crispin will make a small incision through which a cannula can be inserted. The cannula transmits ultrasonic vibrations that liquefy fat deposits, preparing them for easy removal. The same cannula is then used to remove liquefied fat from the treatment area.
The process of UAL may be more effective at treating some areas of the body and can reduce certain liposuction risks, but it is not right for everyone. During your liposuction consultation with Dr. Crispin it can best be determined if UAL is right for you.
